Embrace the Change: Spiritual Transformation Through Christ
Many, if not most, of us have heard of the mythical Phoenix. A marvelous bird that would burst into fire and flames at the end of its life, to be reborn again from its ashes. I am sure we also have some knowledge of the reincarnation beliefs taught in the Hindu and Buddhist religions: The life cycle of birth, death and rebirth, ever continuing until a soul somehow earns or discovers the way out through some form of enlightenment. Though these stories and beliefs may differ slightly, they express the idea that the soul will remain after death and can be recycled again back into a material form to attempt to get things right and possibly have a fresh start. Unlike these attempts to explain what happens to a soul after the body “gives up the ghost”, the scriptures tell a different story. Our souls do not move on and re-awake, unaware of the past experiences starting over from the infant stages of creation. On the contrary, the Apostle Paul describes a glorious change, a raising of the soul into a new “heavenly body”. The Christian is not reborn, the Christian is raised and transformed!!! Read 1Cor 15 before Easter and be encouraged by the promises God gives us through Paul’s words. In John 2:19 we are given the promise: “ Destroy this temple, and in 3 days and I will raise it up”. These are the words of our God and Savior and we can have confidence that as He overcame death and made a way for us and is preparing a place for us in Heaven, when we see Him again, we will be like Him! Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.1 John 3:2-3 “Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.” Amen, amen.Love you all, God’s Grace and Peace to you. – Pastor Jason  |
